Sample cover letter for Internship position at Dreamworks

POSITION:

Internal Audit Intern

Dear Recruiter,

I am a third-year Marshall School of Business student interested in applying for the Internal Audit Internship position of DreamWorks Animation. Finding this opportunity through USC’s career networks page I understand DreamWorks is offering a rare opportunity to work and gain valuable experience in auditing. The unique practices and opportunities that lie in this distinct industry is key to my desire to intern at DreamWorks this summer.

My experience as an Executive Intern at Australian New Zealand Bank (ANZ) has prepared me to handle fast paced, high-pressure environments and complete tasks in a detail-oriented manner. One of my primary tasks in ANZ was to produce analyses of companies in various local industries. This task required me to adopt new modes of data collection, build strong research abilities, and have an acute attention for detail. Despite aggressive deadlines, I was able to persevere through late nights and successfully produce an accurate, and detailed report at the end of the four-week period. I consider my experience in ANZ as exposure to a single sector of the financial industry and I am motivated to gain a broader perspective of business, especially the auditing sector of business.

Through my experiences teaching children in many different environments, whether it is in Los Angeles or in the Kalahari Desert, I have gained and frequently maintained strong interpersonal and communication skills that will translate well when contacting company executives and other alternative sources for potential investments. As a founding member of Room to Read in USC, I was much involved in the process of stepping up and reaching out to schools to facilitate ongoing, co-beneficial relationships. Leading a group of this size can be difficult at times, but it has ultimately taught me to be proactive and to think quickly, and creatively. Moreover, the arduous task of teaching, especially to students who may not speak English as their first language, has pushed me to communicate confidently in a comprehensive, yet succinct manner.

I believe I am a strong candidate for the position because of my enthusiasm to learn, ability to work well under pressure, sound oral and verbal communication skills, and my acute attention for detail. Furthermore, I am prepared to dedicate as much time and effort to meet all expectations and surpass them. I am fully committed and excited by the prospect of working as a Summer Intern for DreamWorks Animation and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
