HBO:

I am applying for a summer internship position in the division to learn the premium cable process for film and television development and production. I believe I am qualified to serve as an intern for HBO because I am a passionate, self-starting individual, and I have gained a solid understanding of the mechanisms of the entertainment industry through my previous internship experience working in television development and film production. Additionally, I read the Hollywood trade publications every day and write entertainment-focused op-eds every week as an opinion columnist for a student publication.

I have experience working with industry-leading personnel. Last summer, I worked as an intern in television development at FOX, where I read and evaluated screenplays and potential story ideas and wrote coverage reports for Drama and Comedy Executives. Before that, I worked as an assistant to the CEO of Michigan Motion Picture Studios. I also served as an intern on the horror film Eloise, working closely with the Production Coordinator and the Production Accountant.

HBO gives voice to remarkable stories that inform, inspire and entertain us. My favorite HBO shows are Game of Thrones, Veep and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. At the University of Michigan, I am a producer for Filmic Productions, a student production company dedicated to creating videos of the highest technical and narrative quality for our clients. Currently I am producing a video for the Michigan Reserve Officers Training Corps that will showcase the dual-natured lives of ROTC cadets as both students and soldiers in training. I am also producing a PSA video for the “I Will” campaign, an organization dedicated to sexual assault prevention, which will showcase the unification of student leaders, administrators and Michigan athletes toward a common goal.
