Sample cover letter for Internship position at Center for Health and Gender Equity

POSITION:

Program Intern

Dear Human Resources Team:

Please accept the enclosed information as my application for the Program Intern Position, advertised on the company’s Webpage. I am currently a candidate for a [..] degree majoring in [..] at [...]. My particular interest in U.S. foreign policy and women’s rights fit well with The Center for Health and Gender Equity’s work and mission.

As a first-generation college student, I funded my studies through scholarships and employment. The hospitality industry helped me develop many transferable skills, such as: multitasking, effective interpersonal communication, and problem solving abilities. Both my undergraduate and recent graduate education have given me a solid foundation for this internship. I graduated from [...] majoring in [...], where I was actively involved in research with multiple professors. My coursework in the Master’s program at [...] has focused on economics, global governance, policy analysis, and statistical methods. My academic career has allowed me to work closely with others while at the same time thriving on my own.

My interest in international women’s rights began while researching a tragic but rising trend in my home country: femicide in Argentina. I am particularly interested in learning how a small organization can affect positive political change in the lives of women in the U.S. as well as internationally. I am eager to contribute my enthusiasm and skills to CHANGE and have the opportunity to further develop my interests.By working as an intern, I will make the most of my bilingual skills. Being able to write, read and speak fluently in English and in Spanish can be beneficial to my position, especially when promoting sexual and reproductive health for women and girls in Latin American countries. As an intern, I will apply my research and communication skills, as well as my critical thinking and analysis abilities to assist CHANGE’s mission.

Additional details of my education and work experience are included on the attached resume. I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to learn more about the position. You can reach me by phone at [...] or by e-mail at [...]. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
