Sample cover letter for Full Time position at IFC

POSITION:

Associate Investment Officer

I would like to apply for the Associate Investment Officer, position that was recently advertised on the IFC website. The detail of the jobs’ Duties and Accountabilities as well as the required skill set perfectly defines my career, prompting my interest to work with the Telecom, Media, Technology & Venture Investing Department of the IFC.

This application is motivated by a long nursed interest in building a development finance career with an international organization such as the IFC. This I believe will give me a bigger and broader opportunity to learn and expand my investment management skill, especially as regards promoting sustainable development in Africa through infrastructure investments. Further, I have always desired to be part of the investment professionals that directly proffer solutions to Africa’s infrastructure challenge.

Along my career path as an investment analyst, I was privileged to be part of a team of five that developed a business plan for the purpose of raising US$100 million financing for a new entrant in the Triple Play Broadband internet service space in Nigeria. I have equally developed market analytics and investment recommendations for one of the leading 4G LTE broadband internet provider in Nigeria. I am a technology enthusiast and a passionate internet advocate, with special interest on how technology can be optimized to bring about sustainable development in Africa.

I have an MSc degree in Economics, and an Economics Bachelor degree with First Class Honours. I have 5 years investment management, research and analysis experience with top investment banks and a commercial bank in Nigeria. At the moment, I work with Diamond Bank Plc., as a Research and Market Intelligence Officer, where I support the executive management of the bank with sector analytics, market insights and macroeconomic forecasts.
