POSITION:

Fellow

GOT THE JOB? Yes

I, Shreya Gupta, a student of Economics honours, in the Shri Ram College of Commerce, would like to apply for the ‘Helping Hands Program’ which is scheduled to be held from 10th November, 2014 to 18th November, 2014 in one of the villages in Dhaulana tehsil. It is a privilege for me to be a part of the Connecting Dreams Foundation, thereby being an eligible applicant for this Entrepreneurship Development Program.

I heartily want to be a part of this program because it encompasses all my areas of interest in itself. Being a city girl, I have always heard and read about the moral and financial bindings faced by the villages in India but never had the chance to spend time in one. Although I tried spending time with the deprived sections at the school level by teaching the children and paying visits to orphanage, I always had a keen desire to personally experience the problems which start at the ground level. Moreover, the fact that the chosen user group is the female section of rural India makes it all the more appealing. There is a dire need for women to become financially independent in socially and financially backward areas of India. Along with financial security, it will also give them the much needed confidence and exposure to the outer world which most of them have misconceptions about. I dearly want to be instrumental in the strong surge taken in this direction.

Not only does the program fulfil my desire to get closer to villages but also it is completely in line with my academic and career goals. As a student of economics, there can be nothing better than practically observing the economic challenges faced by the weaker sections of our economy and trying to work on the loopholes in implementations of reforms. Also, the only reason I want to become an IAS Officer is to practically take steps for uplifting the Indian villages. I will be more than elated if I get an opportunity to build upon its foundation from the very onset.

The experiences of the entrepreneurship development program would also help me in doing all the better as a member of the Connecting Dreams Foundation- SRCC Chapter and take our projects to greater heights. I really wish to avail to this extraordinary experience of learning by teaming up with professionals from across the globe.

A dedicated member of CDF-SRCC, I am confident that I would put utmost hard work and give my best in the ‘Helping Hands Program’, 2014 if I am given the opportunity to participate in it. I would learn at my best and try to contribute to the sessions in all ways that I can. I would try my best to team up with as many people and make the interaction productive. I would ideate and implement with all my abilities. But most importantly, I will ensure that each challenge that I get to witness in the lives of the villagers shall stay registered in my memory until I practically work out solutions for them in my life ahead.

Thank You.
