Sample cover letter for Full Time position at PPD

POSITION:

Associate Scientist

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you in relation to the role as an associate scientist (physical and chemical analysis)

I have recently completed a MSc. in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. I believe that the knowledge I have gained during my postgraduate degree can be effectively applied and enhanced as part of the PPD team.

I am well suited to this role, as I have extensive experience in analysis and characterisation of chemical entities by various methods, including NMR, HPLC, GC, MS, KF, UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy. I previously worked within a professional setting, within the QC department of UCB manufacturing, where I routinely carried out analysis of drugs by HPLC, GC, KF, UV and IR spectroscopy techniques. This work was carried out within a highly regulated environment following SOPs. All work was carried out in accordance with relevant safety and quality guidelines, such as GMP, environmental and health and safety. During my time with UCB I was lead investigator in a project to show equivalency between two different analytical methods from the European and US Pharmacopeia. This led to savings in time and cost for the QC department, as only one analytical method is required to distribute the product to two different markets.

I have previously worked with two research groups. Working with these groups I carried out analysis and characterisation of products by NMR, HPLC, IR, LC-MS and MALDI-MS.

I would appreciate the opportunity to come meet you to discuss my qualifications, qualities and the possibility of becoming an associate scientist. Please find enclosed my CV for your review. I look forward to hearing from you.
