Sample cover letter for Full Time position at siemens

POSITION:

engineer

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to express my interest in the medical device product technical specialist position.

Having recently completed my masters in Biomedical Engineering, I covered modules that depicted the rules and regulations present within the manufacturing process of a medical device, as well as the importance of CE marking and the different classes of medical devices. One module in particular, which sparked my interest, was medical ethics and regulatory affairs. This module applied medical ethics and law related to the development of new products within the field of biomedical engineering. It provided knowledge of the regulatory mechanisms of approval of products for clinical use in the UK, the EU and the US, risk management and design processes. Having developed a keen interest whilst studying this module, I am eager in broadening and developing my knowledge and skills within this field of expertise.

Throughout my undergraduate degree in medical engineering, I was encouraged to devise innovative ideas in the production of new designs through group projects as well as individual assignments. In addition to this, in my final year of my undergraduate study, the module of implant design really caught my attention. For this module, we were put into small groups, whereby we had to design and create a prototype of an implant for a particular injury that had been provided to us. This module helped focus the medical engineering application related to materials selection, as well as provide me with insights into aspects of implant design and evaluation. The module incorporated a reflection of the design aspects, including design specifications of medical implants as well as taking into account surgical and clinical considerations and the relevance of regulatory issues and clinical trials.

While studying for my masters, I took the time to work at TBS GB as a trainee Biomedical engineer twice a week. During this time, I worked closely with technical and clinical staff to provide high standards of service delivery, making continual improvements in the management of medical equipment across the organisation as well as assisting in the maintenance and repair of medical devices. Routine maintenance/ calibration of medical equipment in line with the service specifications were carried out to ensure that the equipment was fit for purpose, while ensuring that all work carried out was documented in the appropriate manner, recorded and updated using the equipment database; allowing the conservation of a comprehensive equipment history. Working in this role also required the compliance with the company ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System and to show continual improvements.

I feel that my knowledge and experience gained through my undergraduate and postgraduate studies combined with the work experience I have attained, albeit little, allows me to understand the role of a medical device product technical specialist. In addition to this, I believe my capacity to grasp new and expanding technology quickly, coupled with my ability to effectively communicate this information, as practiced in my 4 years working at Currys PC World, are also skills that would serve me well in this role.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Lindsay Sivakumar
