The member I chose is Carl R. Pohlad, an outstanding business man and the President of Marquette Financial Companies. Since Pohlad was young, he has been very business savvy, no obstacle seems to get in his way of accomplishing his goals. He is a man of great integrity, who works hard to get things done.

Pohlad, to me, is a man who, when he sees an opportunity, grabs it and runs with it. I applied this principal of seizing opportunity during my junior year of high school at a "Business Professionals of America" conference. A teen girl who started her own organization inspired a friend and me to start a cooking club. The club's purpose was to teach basic cooking skills, bring awareness of nutrition and health in the community, and to gain knowledge pertaining to other cultures and ethnicities. At the same time, students would also earn volunteer hours. It took lots of patience and strength but at the end of the year, the club was approved. The club is now still in progress, and to me, is one of my best accomplishments. Like Pohlad said, “Work hard, and look for opportunity in every life experience.”
