Safe Routes To School Program

03 Apr 2012 to 02 Aug 2013 Link
The Safe Routes to School Program was Joseph Nardone's Eagle Scout Project. The Safe Routes To School Program operates in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. The program was responsible for encouraging students to walk to school more often. Walking to school is often dangerous because the amount of cars often outnumbers the amount of walkers. Our theory was that if we were to get more students walking then less cars would be on the road, and that would make the roads safer and encourage even more walkers. Throughout the operation of this program surveys, presentations, and questionnaires were completed for the students. At the end of our program we saw a 14% increase in student walkers.
