Imagine a company called WonderOffice is a large scale B2B office stationery provider. They have diverse product offerings and they count some of the largest organizations in US in their clientele. The National Range manager, Mark, is facing some issues lately. He feels that the product offering is not profitable and competitive anymore. There is a consensus that the company has a lot of products which can be removed. However, the category managers who report to Mark use only sales as the sole metric to assess performance of a product.
In the light of this, Mark reaches out to you, an Analyst, to help him make ranging decisions which are data driven and holistic. Raw data and a data dictionary related to WonderOffice's product offerings are included in the attached file. You will need to analyze the data.
Create a document you would use for an hour long presentation to help Mark decide which products to keep and which to phase out, with a focus on retaining valuable offerings. In your response, include at least the following elements:
- Actionable insights and recommendations.
- Explanations as to how you came to your insights and recommendations.
- A detailed and organized summary of your findings.
NOTE: There are some products in your assortment which are obsolete already. You can identify from their "condition codes." Condition codes "L", "T" & "O" are already obsolete.
This challenge is limited to solvers located in India. There are potential internship opportunities for the best solvers.
