As we're sure you remember, students have a difficult time picking clubs & organizations when they first get to college. It's difficult to find a balance between activities that you are already good at, and activities that you think you might enjoy.
Anonymous Educational Co is trying to build an application that will suggest clubs & organizations to students to help facilitate this decision process. Anonymous Educational Co would like for you to come up with an application that will match students to clubs & organizations that might be an especially good fit, based on their personality and the personalities of students already in the club or organization.
Submissions received before 12:00PM Pacific on June 8th will receive feedback from the host team, allowing students to make edits prior to final review.
1. Allow a user to import a CSV that has current students' names, profile characteristics and the clubs & organizations they belong to. See the attached CSV titled "5bfc2feb8a38-existing.csv". That's the sample file we will attempt to import into your application.
2. Allows a user to import a CSV that has new students' names and their profile characteristics. See the attached CSV titled "5bfc2feb8a38-new.csv" to examine the exact format of the CSV that users will input. Note that the format is similar to the existing students CSV, except that these students don't have any clubs or organizations assigned.
3. Based on the personality traits listed for existing students in clubs & organizations, match the new students to at least 5 clubs & organizations that they might enjoy. Indicate how good a fit each of these 5 suggestions are for the student. Also, give us a quick analysis of the traits that feature prominently for each organization, if you find interesting patterns.
Your output can be a CSV, but please feel free to get creative with how you display the results (see bonus). Keep in mind the scale at which this is going to happen - you'll want to make sure your formatting looks good for 1000s of students to be matched.
CSV Formats (all traits on a scale of 1-10):
Student ID, Name, Ethics, Composure, Sociability, Cooperation, Motivation, Composure, Flexibility, Practicality, Curiosity, Creativity, Coaching, Persuasiveness, Analytical, Org ID-1 Org ID-2 ... Org ID-N
Student ID, Name, Ethics, Composure, Sociability, Cooperation, Motivation, Composure, Flexibility, Practicality, Curiosity, Creativity, Coaching, Persuasiveness, Analytical
Org ID, Org Name
Present your data and results in a fun and beautiful way. E.g. Consider building a simple search tool to allow students to search for themselves to find the orgs they are best matched to.
