We are in the process of developing a new chemical for the home. In order to make the chemical easy to use, we'd like to create a water-based formula which is colorful when wet (applied), but dries quickly and fades to colorless. This will help consumers know where the product has been applied.

Deliverables

Propose an ingredient we can use for this application. Submit:
1) The ingredient name/compound
2) Supplemental research or information to prove it fits the requirements (becomes colorless when dry)

Criteria:

The formulation has to be buffered at an acidic pH, between 4 and 5, for active ingredient stability. Any colorants used must have long term (2 year +) stability in solution.

Additional requirements: Low toxicity of the colorant and low to no odor.
