More and more technologies are tying their functionality and appeal in with social media. For example 1:Face Watches donate to a different charity depending on which style of watch you purchase. This makes for excellent sharable content when you post a picture of your new watch and mention the donation, spurring others to do the same.

We’re in the field of health and wellness technologies, including products like:

- The devices in this video from CES

- The devices listed in this top 5 article.

- A wearable device that tracks sleep, heart rate, hydration levels, activity and temperature

- A connected inhaler for asthma that is able to provide proper instructions for use, provide data on when and how often the medication is used; remind patient when to take their medicine and when to refill

- A smart pill bottle that reminds you when and how to take your medication

- A mobile app that lets you track and manage your illness, can track foods and triggers that relate to managing your illness, and links to a telemedicine service and provides access to a health coach as well.

We want to know: How will social media tie in with these technologies improve the user’s experience and make them more popular?
Deliverables

How can social media tie in with the use, adoption, and uptake of a health and wellness technology?

1. Briefly describe the health and wellness technology you chose to work with (can be one from the above list or another product).

2. How does the user share their experience with the technology on social media?

3. (Most important!) How does the social media connection get users to keep using their technology (stickiness) and get new people to try it?

4. (Optional) Sketches, drawings, CAD renderings, mock-ups, charts, videos, graphs or any other visuals that help explain your solution

Winning solutions will focus on how social media will get people to use their health & wellness technology regularly and get new people excited about it.

Questions to think about:

- What approaches in designing and building a technology should be considered knowing the strength of social media as a marketing channel?

- Can we leverage philanthropic connections?

- What are some of the pitfalls to be aware of relative to social media concerning uptake and continued use?

Things to consider:

- More technologies! Check out this video to see more health and wellness technologies.

- Get Detailed! Tell us everything about the technology and every part of the social media interaction! Just saying “post a pic of it on Facebook” is not enough!

- Screencaps/mock-ups? Writing up actual social posts with real images that and sharing images of them could be a great supplement to your solution.
