There are an estimated 40.3 million people enslaved in the world today. Forced labor generates over 150 billion dollars a year in illegal profits, making it the second biggest illegal market in the world outside of drugs. Perhaps even more startling, the majority of us are unknowingly co-conspirators, enabling modern slavery through the purchase and consumption of products made in sweat shops.
Deliverables
We want to give people something to rally around in order to shine a light on modern slavery and inspire people to do what they can to end it. Specifically, answer the following:
- What is your creative idea that will unite people against modern slavery and motivate them to take action against it?
- Why would your idea resonate with people and inspire them to speak out against modern slavery?
- Does your idea call for specific action to be taken to stop modern slavery? If so, describe.
- How do you envision your idea having a widespread impact?
Considerations:
- Think about how the color pink is now synonymous with breast cancer. We are looking for something that will work to promote a similar level of awareness around modern slavery.
- Think about other brands or organizations that you could partner with who can help raise awareness and motivate people to get involved.
