As a multifaceted company, one division of UL is dedicated to the safety and integrity of consumer products.  UL works with retailers and manufacturers across many industries to ensure product safety through testing and inspections.   For example, UL analyzes products for chemical usage.  

As the global marketplace and eCommerce continue to grow, we expect that UL's product safety data can be used to expand the retail and eCommerce services that are available and impact consumer interactions in these channels.  

Deliverables

We are interested in YOUR GAMECHANGING IDEA that uses product safety data in a new way to expand the services and consumer interactions available in retail and eCommerce.  Specifically, please answer the following:

  1. What consumer buying behaviors are trending that will change how products are bought and sold in retail/online? How will the evolution of the shopper change the experience in store? What information do consumers require or what information do they want to see that is not available today?
  2. What new trends do you foresee that will alter the safety of retail and eCommerce products worldwide? How will these trends affect consumers in 3-5 years?
  3. What is your idea for a new service or possibility that could be offered from data gathered on product safety, through retailers to consumers?
  4. How can a safety organization like UL be more relevant in future retail transactions?


**Please note: We are looking for OFF-THE-WALL ideas for the use of product safety data in eCommerce and retail.  Please do not simply submit feedback on existing services in eCommerce or predict the relevance of UL's product safety data in the future.  We want a new idea on HOW to use product safety data to expand eCommerce services.
