When it comes to ice cream, sometimes the old standards aren’t enough. Producers are always looking for the newest varieties that push the boundaries of attention, while not being too niche. Hitting that sweet spot to find the next great and crowd pleasing scoop is never ending task in ice cream innovation.

Deliverables

Propose four new ice cream flavors not largely available in United States grocery stores and ice cream shops.

Your proposal should:

(1) Have one new flavor for each season: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

(2) Embrace current culinary trends, be hip, and push the boundary.

(3) Include flavors you would feel confident that you, your friends, and family would enjoy returning to repeatedly. This means no turkey & gravy ice cream for Fall, and no chili cheese dog ice cream in Summer.

(4) Explain how each flavor corresponds to its season. Is it holiday related? What should it be named?

DO NOT simply copy the varieties offered by ice cream producers like Ben & Jerry’s, Häagen-Dazs, Breyers, or other widely available options. We want NEW.

For the purposes of this challenge, consider “flavor” to mean a comprehensive description of the ice cream variety. For instance: a complete overview of a “Moose Tracks” ice cream would detail the full description of each flavor, from the vanilla ice cream and fudge swirl, to the chunks of peanut butter cups. Base taste, chunks, ribbons, swirls, flakes, and more are all of interest.

CRITERIA: Avoid flavors like those from the companies below.

- Salt and Straw

- Jeni's

- Steve's

- Ben & Jerry's

- Graeter's

- Häagen-Dazs

- New Orleans Ice Cream Co.

- Snoqualmie

- Coolhaus

- McConnell's
