Next Challenge: Future of Footwear - what’s next? |
You've probably noticed that household cleaning and chores are a significant time commitment! The average adult spends 4.5 hours a week on these sorts of tasks, and even the most organized people say that cleaning feels never-ending and takes too much time and effort. We want to bring a major change to how people are cleaning. Specifically, we want ideas for brand new products that will simplify household cleaning, ideally cutting the time it takes in half! Product ideas should focus on cleaning surfaces and rooms in the house, and some of the areas you may want to consider include the kitchen, the bathroom, and floors.
Propose a brand new idea for a product that will simplify household cleaning and make it significantly less time consuming. You should try thinking about household cleaning 5-10 years into the future and propose something totally new that we haven't seen before. Please answer the following:
- What is the cleaning task that your new product will simplify? What do you see as the major frustration in the way this task is currently done? (4-5 sentences max)
- Tell us your product idea and explain how it works. (4-5 sentences max)
- In 1-2 sentences, tell us the main benefit of your product! (Give us the quick pitch on why people would use it.)
Criteria:
- **We have already received ideas around robotics, so please avoid ideas in this category.
- Avoid ideas that re-purpose an existing product. The actual product itself should be something new, not just the way it is used.
- Example of what NOT to do: a robot vacuum (like a Roomba) that mops the floor instead of just vacuuming
- Avoid ideas for laundry and doing dishes.
- Your answers should not exceed 4-5 sentences for each deliverable. Submissions that are concise and quick to read will receive higher scores.
- Your ideas should center around these opportunity areas:
- More effective cleaning the first time you clean
- Making cleaning easier for the next time you clean
- Fewer products for more cleaning tasks
- Tools to streamline the cleaning process
- Extending the time between cleanings
-
Submissions will be graded on the following criteria:
- Meets Deliverables
- Creativity
- Clarity
will receive $200 each
