For college students, price and convenience usually determine what you would expect to find in the kitchen pantry or resident’s room in a college dorm. It's why people joke that ramen noodles are the main staple of a student's diet. They’re easy to make, cheap, and you can mix in other ingredients for a quick meal.

Minute® Rice has a line of ready to serve rice products that are fully cooked, ready in 60 seconds, and are perfect single serve portions for college students. There are a variety of products including 100% Whole Grain Brown Rice, Jasmine Rice, White Rice, Chicken Rice Mix and Brown & Wild Rice, to name a few. Not only are the products more nutritious than ramen noodles, but they’re also more versatile since you can add so many different ingredients and turn it into a satisfying meal, snack, or even dessert.

Deliverables

We've launched a "stir it up" challenge to discover the different recipe combinations you can mix up! In your solution, give us your outside the box ideas--savory or sweet--for a meal or snack made by stirring ingredients into Minute® Ready to Serve Rice. Include the following:

  1. Two different meal combinations that could be easily (and cheaply) created by using any Minute® Ready to Serve rice product.
  2. a.     What ingredients would you use?

    b.    What would you call your two meal creations? (Be fun and creative with your names!)

    c.     Why do you think college students would love about your breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack?

  3. What specific methods would you recommend to market/share your meal creations to make college students aware of the products and excited to try them? Explain how you imagine students learning about our meal combinations!

Criteria: Creativity is encouraged in your solutions! We want ideas that you and your friends would love to eat in your dorm rooms. Stir it up! For inspiring ideas, see our attached chart. Think of this challenge like a science project as you can experiment by adding in any of your favorite ingredients from proteins, veggies, sauces, cheese, etc.
