Electric cars.  Biodegradable straws.  Home compost kits.  Sustainability takes on many forms and definitions, but we can all agree that it's a relevant topic across industries and lifestyles!  Today, we'd like to focus  on sustainability as it relates to products we all know and use.   Specifically, we'd like you to  propose a new product idea that will contribute to greater overall sustainability.  You can approach this in one of two ways:

  1.  Reimagine or redevelop an existing product so that it is more sustainable, or
  2. Propose an entirely new product that meets an existing need that is currently being met by a less sustainable product option

So to recap, you're making a current product more sustainable or replacing it with a totally new product idea.  For inspo, check out this list of some of the smartest sustainable products of 2018!

Deliverables

Propose your sustainable product idea by answering the following:

  1. What is your sustainable product idea?  Tell us specifically which existing product it either improves (i.e. makes more sustainable) or replaces.
  2. What makes your idea sustainable?  How does it reduce waste, cut down on resource use, conserve energy, save the environment, etc.
  3. Why do you believe your idea will be important to consumers?  Would you buy it?  Sell us on your idea.

Tips for Top Submissions

  • The more your product impacts daily life, the better.
  • Do not feel restrained to a particular industry, but your idea should be a physical product as opposed to a sustainability practice.
