Teach Millennials financial literacy, build lasting relationships

As a group, Millennials are highly distrustful of financial institutions. The 2008 global financial crisis and its fallout made life difficult for many of their parents, and as a result these young adults have shied away from embracing the industry to the same extent prior generations did. We think that targeted educational resources could be an illuminating experience for Millennials that helps bring them back to financial institutions, such as life insurance companies, looking to make a lasting positive impact in their lives.
Deliverables
Propose an education plan that will help Millennials learn financial literacy and regain their trust. Your solutions should do the following:
- Identify an entry point for this conversation with Millennials. What content and education resources would be valuable and engaging for this generation, and why?
- How do we maintain continuous interaction? We want to stay in touch with Millennials after the initial educational experience. How do we continue being helpful without pushing products and services on Millennials?
- Where should we initially reach these Millennials? Through technologies, partners, or other means? Give a detailed response with specifics.
- What role should a financial adviser have in this education plan? How would the involvement of a financial adviser affect your level of trust for the industry?
