GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Mr. xxxx,

It is with great excitement that I submit my application for the Creative Programming internship at ABC Studios. In June 2016, I will be graduating with an MS in xxxx from xxxx in xxx I am interested in working for ABC Studios to further enhance my experience in scripted television development. My relevant professional experience include interning with the development team at NBCUniversal’s xxxx, providing script coverage for the Set In Philadelphia Screenwriting Competition, and evaluating movie pitches for Big Picture Alliance. In the classroom, I’ve learned the craft of storytelling through my television producing and screenwriting class. The culmination of these experiences makes me an excellent candidate for this internship.

As the current Development and Production intern at xxxx, I fulfill all needs of the coordinators. This includes desk coverage for the Executive Vice President, xxxx, distribution of internal documents, and video conference set up for development meetings. Additionally, I support the administrators by writing agendas for meetings, running errands, creating treatment and DVD binders and copying and filing development status reports. Throughout my internship, I actively research talent and assess show concepts and pitches at weekly executive development meetings. I review dailies and constructively provide feedback that was implemented in xxxx new original series xxxx pilot episode. I also read scripts, create loglines and summaries for xxxx scripted crime series, xxxx.

My past professional experience with development includes an internship with the Greater Philadelphia Film Office. In this role, I read several scripts and provided coverage for the annual Set in Philadelphia Screenwriting Competition and continued to do so even after my internship concluded. Furthermore, I was invited to be a pitch evaluator for Big Picture Alliance (BPA). BPA holds an event each year, where high school students pitched their movie idea to a panel of judges and received feedback on originality, creativity, character building and story arc. To further build identity capital, I am attending the John McKee’s ‘Story’ conference in Los Angeles this year. My coursework has taught me a great deal about the industry and its practices. In my screenwriting class, I learned the fundamentals of how a screenplay is structured and key elements to making a story work. In my creative producing class, I learned the art and craft of producing for television. During the creative producing classes, I constantly pitched story ideas at the beginning of each class and listened to the original ideas of other classmates. For my final project, I developed an adapted story bible of UK show Only Fools and Horses, which has only further increased my desire of bringing a script to production.

I am available for an interview to provide more information at your convenience. I look forward to applying my educational and professional experience in development to ABC Studios. It is my goal to work with a team that shares my dedication to storytelling within the entertainment industry. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

xxxxx
