Dear Sir/Ma’am,
I am currently pursuing B.A. (Hons) Economics from St. Stephen’s College. I would like to use this letter as an opportunity
to showcase my skillset and competence for the live project at Accenture.
I come from a small town Cuttack from the coastal region of the state of Odisha. I have always been a consistent performer
in academics throughout my school life. When the time came to choose a career path after my 12th boards, I did not want
to follow the much beaten path of Engineering/Medical courses in my state which was the most extolled streams to
pursue in the eyes of my relatives and family friends. I wanted to gain more exposure and hence took a decision to leverage
my excellent board exam score to secure a seat at one of the premier liberal arts colleges in the country. Coming to
Stephens has been a life changing experience for me. I have become more responsible, self-reliant, motivated and have
a different view of life and world.
I am extremely interested in pursuing a career in the consulting industry. Consulting interests me because I have
experienced how it gives me a lot to get a grip on the manner and motion of the real business world. I have learnt
tremendously from my last winter internship at a start-up consultancy. I have gained insights into various industries and
got a handle on how consultants work, how projects are initiated and how the flow of deliverables is maintained. I also
immersed myself in quite a bit of secondary research which led to the firm getting 2 new clients and 3-4 prospective
projects. Working in one of top consulting firms in the world is always a golden opportunity for any undergraduate student
and I feel this live project will provide me a great platform to understand and venture into the consulting industry.
I wish to hone my problem solving skills by working under the guidance of proficient professionals and learning from their
methods of working. After having already worked in a start-up, this project will give me an unparalleled exposure in the
working of the bigger consulting firms in the world. In closing, may I emphasise that my professed hunger for knowledge,
my inclination for strategic thinking and possession of the requisite skill set renders me apart from other candidates for
an opportunity at your esteemed organisation
