Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Action Against Hunger
Nutritionist
To whom it may concern,
I’m applying for the position of Nutritionist that was recently advertised on reliefweb.int; please find enclosed my CV.
I recently graduated from [University] with a BSc in Human Nutrition with First Class Honours. As well as a proficient student, I’ve been collecting several volunteer experiences, in order to gain experience in many different fields of nutrition.
For the past three months I have been working as a nutrition volunteer for an NGO in a refugee camp in Ghana. I participated in the implementation of their nutrition program. This involved screening the refugee population under 5 years old for the detection of severely malnourished cases, and implementing the CMAM standard protocol for their treatment.
Moreover I was in charge of planning future nutrition projects, including budget planning and human resources development. I personally drafted a concept note which allowed the NGO to become the implementing partner of UNCHR for nutrition care in all the refugee camps in Ghana.
My life experiences, especially my internship in Ghana, have been fundamental in the development of my problem solving skills: I’m able to work independently, managing difficulties while keeping a cool head, as well as accepting my limitations with flexibility. My former teachers and employers have always counted on my excellent individual organization skills as well as my ability to work in a team.
I’m a perfectionist and a meticulous planner: I like to organize my work in a realistic, but strict way, in order to give my best and to make sure I meet the deadlines.
During my academic career, I recall attending an ACF conference about RUTFs and falling in love with the idea of pursuing a career inthe field of disaster relief. I would be honoured to work with the organization that inspired my career choice.
I think I’m the right person for this post and I hope you’ll give me the opportunity to discuss this further.
With Best Regards,
