“Sky is the limit”

The universe is the most mystical subject to study. The more we try to explore, we realize that the less we know about it. I wish to know more about it, more about how mankind can surpass its own limits in understanding it. This incessant desire for gaining in-depth knowledge of the dynamic and ever-evolving field of space has motivated me to pursue a master’s in Space Science and Technology.

I was fortunate to have begun a good education and as I grew, my interests and abilities were inclined towards the physical nature of the universe. Science unraveled many a mystery for me and math challenged me and gave me joy. Growing up in Bangalore, “the aerospace hub of India” has stirred the curiosity in my passion.

My respect for education and inclination towards applied science drove me to opt for math and physics in my higher secondary. With a strong background of these, I majored in Mechanical Engineering in undergraduate studies. Subjects like Mechanics of materials, Machine design, Dynamics of machines, Thermodynamics, Turbo machines, Fluid mechanics, Robotics, Automotive engineering, Control engineering etc., have revealed to me the limitless horizons in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Pursuing my passion, I worked on a project in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore, India on “DESIGN AND PROCESS PLANNING OF DRY BAY BRACKET” of aircraft wing, during which I learnt the fabrication aspects of various components of aircrafts using numerically controlled (NC) machines. I had the opportunity to visit NC labs and study the design of the component which helped to positively minimize the machining setups and hence resulting in greater accuracy in design, machining time and cost as well. Apart from this I have delivered seminars on “Development and Applications of stealth aircrafts”, “Gyroscopes” etc. I am also trained in various design software like Solid edge, PRO-E, and CATIA. My undergraduate study has been a richly rewarding experience.

I have been working as a research assistant for the past six months under my uncle for his PhD thesis on “Applications of Complexity Theory in Modern Warfare.” During the past few months I have studied about physical modeling of radar networks and their importance in modern warfare. Currently I am working on space based electronic warfare, the norms, effects and benefits of employing unmanned air vehicle (UAVs) and at the same time learning the fundamentals of physical modeling using MATLAB and computational electro-magnetics.

I found out about the "Space Master" program through a friend and I was greatly impressed by the course program offered by this consortium. The agenda behind the "Erasmus Mundus" program is indeed praiseworthy and will go a long way in creating technically sound engineers. A European Master’s degree will be the right launch pad to pursue my mission. My grades may not be as bright and shiny as the next students, truly, they are mine, and I have earned them. I wish to pursue a career in research and hence I want to opt for a specialization in research oriented Atmospheric and Space Science. My experience as a research assistant has given me the patience, perseverance and will to excel in research. I feel confident that the renowned faculty, vast international exposure and competence will surely enable me to mettle in the current competitive world and contribute to the future of Space Science and Technology.I believe that with my capacity for diligence, commendable logic and above all my commitment to achieve my goals, I will do excellent in this program. I am sure that you will share my confidence and give me the opportunity to be a part of this one-of-a-kind program and help me “make a difference” to this field.
