Sample cover letter for Internship position at Akamai

POSITION:

Media Application Software Engineer

Dear Ms. Catherine Parker,

I learned about the Media Application Software Engineer (ID: 794395) internship at Akamai through UC San Diego’s Career Services Center and would like to be considered for the position. After researching your company’s services, I found myself growing excited by the work you do, and I am certain that, with my programming skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and with a team, I can contribute to your company.

Akamai supports online companies by expanding, refining, and protecting users’ experiences, and the responsibility of making sure that the Internet runs smoothly is something that I want to help shoulder. Being a consumer of online media myself, I relish the chance to work on improving the product. I am fluent with multiple programming languages, most prominently Java, C++, and HTML, and have developed using gvim, Eclipse, and Notepad++. I have used these for school assignments, such as creating a calculator, a card game simulator, and a variety of data structures; as well as for my personal development in the creation of a text-based game and simple websites. Additionally, my involvement with the First Unitarian Church of Wilmington gave me experience working in a team environment where I set goals and delegated tasks to achieve large projects while putting together a church service.

I welcome an opportunity to talk further with you about how my skills and experience could benefit Akamai. Please see my resume for further details about my experiences.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
