Sample cover letter for Internship position at Amazon

POSITION:

Retail General Manager

Dear Recruiting Manager,

I am a first year MBA student at University of Washington’s Foster School of Business with a focus on marketing and product management. I am writing to express my interest in the Product and Retail General Management internships. Throughout my professional life, I have always had a deep passion for establishing client relationships and providing my clients the highest possible value. Previously, I have served my clients in two settings: providing banking products to individual clients and small business owners and solving cross-functional, corporate-wide issues for Fortune 500 clients. While my work has always focused on serving customers on a personal level, my passion has evolved to serving customers at a higher level. Over the last few years, I have made the conscious decision to make this passion the focus of my career. It is for this reason that I am pursuing a MBA degree at the Foster School of Business.

In my opinion, there is no better company in the world to fulfill this passion than Amazon. As an avid follower of the consumer products industry’s constantly changing trends, I have a great appreciation for the way Amazon has pioneered innovation in the online customer experience. I have personally experienced many of Amazon’s successful innovations, such as Amazon Prime and 1-Click. But behind Amazon’s many innovations are the various customer-obsessed teams that drive each product launch and execute impactful customer experience initiatives. I look forward to the opportunity to take what I have learned at Foster and leverage Amazon’s vast resources and deep customer expertise.

I believe that the skills gained from my professional background transfer well to product and retail general management at Amazon. As a Branch Service Manager at East West Bank, I managed the sales and operations of my own branch while leading a staff and serving the needs of my clients. As a consultant with Accenture, I developed executable business plans and implemented organization-wide program initiatives for Fortune 500 clients. Both experiences gave me the opportunity to lead teams, work closely with cross-functional groups, and successfully drive towards project goals and milestones. From these opportunities, I have cultivated the business development skills and customer focus which are essential to succeed at Amazon.

My resume is enclosed for your review and I look forward to the opportunity to interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
