Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for the Mechanical Engineering 12 month placement in applied intelligence at BAE Systems at London or Guildford.

A placement at BAE Systems would mean frequent interactions with clients and senior staff and I feel that I would be able to further improve my interpersonal skills such as communication and teamwork. One of the reasons why I chose to study mechanical engineering was that I firmly believe it will be able to take me to the forefront of latest technology to use in solving problems, a placement at BAE Systems would allow me to do just that.

I am currently in my second year of study for a MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of ...... and I am on track to get a first class honours degree when I graduate having already gained a 1st in my first year of the degree.

From my enclosed CV you can see that I have prior experience to which I could draw upon during my placement such as:

An IMechE accredited degree with modules including mathematics, fluid dynamics, design and electronic instrumentation.

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and working knowledge of Solid Edge ST7, Multisim & Ansys. I also have knowledge of other computer packages like Adobe Photoshop which I have learnt in my spare time.
