Sample cover letter for Internship position at BCG

POSITION:

Consultant

Dear Recruiting Manager,

With 2 years of experience in strategic planning, data analysis, and project management on multiple complex projects, I am writing to express my strong interest in the Associate position at The Boston Consulting Group. Having worked on projects with executives and teams across the globe, I can appreciate the importance of objective solutions based on market research, thorough analysis, and deep understanding of the business’ challenges and needs. Through my conversation with some current Associates, I got an appreciation for your company’s global reach and its well-known tailored approach to deliver solutions to clients.

Given my ability to navigate ambiguous situations and deconstruct complex problems to develop creative solutions, I believe I am a good fit for this role, and can make an immediate contribution to BCG. I would like to emphasize the following key competencies:

  • Data Analysis & Strategic Planning: I conducted an Activity Survey of more than 2,300 employees by collaborating with teams across the organization to identify overlaps, gaps in activities conducted in the countries, regions, and functional groups. The outcome from my analysis was the foundation for management team to frame the go-forward priorities, objectives, and projects that enable a budget reduction of $9.8M.
  • Problem Solving: I took over a failing optimization project and successfully delivered a plan to achieve a $13M saving target by re-analyzing data, interviewing stakeholders, identifying saving opportunities in specific operational groups and countries, and implementing proper project management.
  • Leadership and Communications Skills: I led a global team of 15 people to build and implement a communication strategy for the newly formed organization. I worked closely with executives to understand their challenges and translate those thoughts into concise and succinct communications materials. Through this effort, the organization understood the business strategy and priorities clearly to deliver on the team’s objectives.

I am excited to bring my experience in strategic planning, data analysis, along with my communication skills to your company. I look forward to an opportunity to learn more about the role and how can I contribute to the team’s success. Please feel free to contact me at xxxxxxx. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to meeting with you soon.

Sincerely,
