Sample cover letter for Internship position at Bain

POSITION:

Business Analyst

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a xxx year student studying Statistics at University College London (UCL). I would  like to take the role as a summer intern to obtain actual work experience at Bain.

My desire to work for Bain stems from attending Bain’s London Evening Presentation and understanding Bain’s nature of work as being exceptionally client-focused and results-driven. Bain’s True North specifically appeals to me because it emphasises the sustainability in providing the best recommendations for their clients, even if they contradict the senior management’s opinions. Furthermore, the fact that Bain’s clients outperform the market by 4 times reflects the unrivalled prestige and capabilities Bain possesses over their competitors and showcases the long-term strategic partnership that Bain takes pride in. I wish to work for a company full of passionate individuals who strive to deliver the best results.

My previous summer internship in Avia-Tek, a Shanghai-based aerospace consultancy, shaped me into a problem-solver and a quick-adapter to new industries. Working in the Chinese aviation market, I was assigned to customise a business model for a HK$7mA320 aircraft project with my seniors, and lead a 1-week internal web development project. The hands-on experience in strategic planning trained me in becoming a freethinking leader who can fit into the intellectually stimulating working environment that Bain promotes. I am also convinced that Bain is a workplace where I can contribute as an independent thinker, demonstrated by my successful publication titled “Financial News−Year In Review 2014/15” on an online blog called The Market Mogul. Writing financial analysis not only refined my quantitative and qualitative grounding as a consultant, but also equipped me with essential analytical skills to cope with this ever-changing industry.

I truly hope that I can work amongst the best firm to start my consulting career. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

xxx
