Dear Sir/Madam,
I am drawn to Barclays by its unparalleled global reach and influential global brand, which excites me as it presents a wide variety of development opportunities and cross-border interactions/experiences. I believe the summer analyst program in Banking division would enable me to engage with Barclays’ vast 300-year history, knowledge and expertise in the finance sector by learning about and helping contribute to exciting, high-profile transactions.
My desire to pursue an Investment Banking internship stems from my interest in mathematics, business activity and global financial markets. The Barclays summer analyst program would provide exposure to a range of Investment Banking products including XXX, YYY and XXX, as well as developing my understanding of the dynamics and structuring of transactions and their visible impacts on markets/industries as a whole. As Deputy Managing Director/Finance Director for my school’s XXXX team, I directed strategy implementation and handled basic accounting, cash flow projections and fundraising, and this experience sparked my Finance interest. During the XXXX YYY Exposure Trip, I gained further inspiration from hearing Investment Bank representatives discussing their career progressions, recent business transactions and the art of financial modelling and valuation.
I grew my interest in banking through work experiences and financial modelling programs, and adopted a role as author/analyst at XXX, where I publish a range of finance articles to stay close to market activity, with particular focus on Asia. I consider myself to be resilient, reliable, versatile and adaptable, making me a confident team player who can consistently deliver results under pressure and make any necessary changes in approach to a problem. I believe that these qualities, along with my learning agility and detail focus, would make me an asset to Barclays, handle analytical challenges and thus thrive in an Investment Banking environment.
