Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Berenberg

I wish to apply for the International Graduate Programme as advertised on the Berenberg website. I am a final year BSc (Hons) Banking and Finance undergraduate.

I have successfully researched investment products, prepared presentations, volunteered for charities and developed client relationships during my 2 years of undergraduate study and my year as a financial accounting assistant intern at a global manufacturing company. My considerable achievements as an intern include being solely responsible for the Operating Expense (OPEX) budgets, valued at upwards of xx, for the UK entity of the Energy division of the firm and hosting meetings with non-finance managers on various sites to discuss the budget forecasts for the fiscal year.

I am a goal-oriented professional with highly developed spreadsheet and analytical skills. In my previous job, I dealt with a number of budgeting and forecasting programs within Excel such as BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation). I also created a VBA Macro using code to standardize, automate and speed up the OPEX reporting process, making the distribution of OPEX budgets to department managers more user friendly. By hosting monthly meetings with senior managers, I have honed my communication and event management skills, and developed my interpersonal skills as well. I also have experience at Barclays Bank as a placement student and The Hinckley and Rugby Building Society as a mortgage services assistant, both of which gave me a vital insight into the world of finance and the banking industry.

I am highly organised and am proficient with computer applications including Reuters, Bloomberg, SAP, FIS edc, Word and Powerpoint. Through my subscription to the Financial Times, I always keep on top of the global financial markets as well as the general business news, in order to remain commercially aware. Financial Modelling was one of my modules in my second year of study, which focused on a range of topics, such as regression analysis on U.S. Treasury Bonds over a period of time.
