Dear Recruiting Team,

I am writing to express my interest in the Technology summer internship positions at Booz Allen Hamilton. Currently, I am a second year, and I intend on pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce with a dual major in Computer Science from the University of Virginia. My interest in Booz Allen Hamilton has grown after attending your information sessions on the University of Virginia Grounds and having the opportunity to connect at the Engineering Career Fair. I am impressed with the firm’s emphasis on building and training a strong team of world citizens and am glad to see how this fits with my own values.

My interests in computer science developed during my research internship this past summer with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia, where I assisted a professor and her PhD student in developing and testing a webserver to host tools for predicting different types of DNA binding factors. I worked with Perl, HTML and CSS to redesign the front-end user interface and improve forms processing, and I also worked with Python and Bash to improve back-end processing and analyze prediction results. Through this work experience, I have gained strong research skills and programming abilities to work on a wide variety of projects.

I also have strong leadership, presentation and teamwork skills. As a member of the Enactus Social Tech Giv2Giv Project Team at the University of Virginia, I helped my team formulate and execute marketing and branding solutions for giv2giv, a nonprofit fundraising platform that administers a community fund to build charitable sustainability. I worked on a semester long group project and presented plans directly to the CEO for customer-driven marketing and corporate targeting.

My experiences and my coursework have prepared me for working in a fast-paced, results-oriented and team-centered working environment like Booz Allen Hamilton. Therefore, I possess the technical and soft skills, as well as the professional experience, that make me an ideal candidate.
