Sample cover letter for Internship position at Capital Markets Firm

POSITION:

Intern

It was a pleasure meeting and chatting to you on Tuesday at the Internship Fair. I am writing to express interest in the summer internship programmes. I am particularly interested in gaining practical experience with a leading and authorative provider of financial services, with the long term aim of pursuing a career in international financial markets.

I completed an Honours Degree in Economics & Computer Science from in June 2013, and I am currently pursuing a Professional Certificate in International Financial Markets with The Institute of Banking. The modules covered involve many aspects of the financial world, namely debt and equity capital markets, foreign exchange, corporate finance, alternative investments, risk and regulations, as well as the products and services offered.

I have also developed extracurricular skills via internships and work experience during and after college. My last year’s dissertation involved the analysis of 1000+ financial articles and derive a profitable trading strategy from modelling investors’ expectations. The write-up required me to be competent in the use of MS Windows packages, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. I had to present my results to students and staff, as well as showcasing it to potential employers. I had to develop a PowerPoint presentation as well as an event poster, which has taught me to speak with confidence in front of an audience.

I also have good office and IT skills from working at X Sport & Fitness, and have developed excellent customer service skills while working at [High End Luxury Hotel] I am available for interview at any time and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards
