Dear Sir/Madam

My name is Yuriy Kvitnytskyi. I have recently graduated from City University where I completed a three-year course in Economics. When I was first introduced to Citi Group I was impressed with what I learnt about its global scope and industry focused nature. The latter constitutes the interest in application for a summer analyst position at your company.

As an economics student at City University I have obtained a fundamental insight into finance along with valuable quantitative and analytical skills. The academic disciplines that I have been taught towards the end of the course such as Corporate Finance and Introduction to Financial Derivatives have enhanced my long lasting interest in finance. During my work experience in a Ukrainian consultancy firm I was mainly involved in market research activities. I worked on the presentation that was made to senior managers after successfully performing a market investigation as a part of the project team. This proved my sound co-operation skills and further convinced me to associate my life with a career in finance. As an intern I had a chance to meet clients from domestic agricultural and energy sectors. I believe that Citi can potentially benefit from my established networking across agriculture, energy, manufacturing and banking in both Ukraine and Russia.

Investment banking attracts me in particular due to its contiguity with companies across different sectors and origins, thus I can fulfill my pursuit to learn and open wider prospects on my career path. In order to strengthen my awareness of the technical side I have taken an internship at London investment boutique Greensea Capital. During this experience I worked on a number of projects utilizing various valuation and financial modeling techniques. The latter include discounted cash flow valuation and accretion-dilution merger model. I also proved my excellent leadership skills by planning and organizing the project as a small group for one of our PE clients.

Citi appears to be a perfect place where I can grow professionally under the guidance of leading experts in the industry. The company’s M&A departments have showed excellent results over the recent period. The company’s M&A has been ranked fifth in the global league table for their performance in the first three quarters of 2015. Although creating foundation for the future is an important part of an internship program, the main goal remains being promoted to a permanent position at Citi. I am passionate about the company’s philosophy, which is defined through constant aspiration to perfect conduct of their financial services. I have also learned that the company has a very diversified stream of income from different directions within investment banking. Strong positions in capital markets and traditional banking allow Citi to find sophisticated financing solutions for its corporate clients. The major part of group’s growth potential comes from its dominance across emerging markets. The bank has been named the best investment bank in Asia. The latter I believe will guarantee the company its leading positions in upcoming decades.
