Sample cover letter for Internship position at Citi

Spring Week

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is XX and I am a first-year student in the Bachelor of International Economics and Finance at (target school). I was recently introduced to your firm via On Campus presentation and was impressed with what I learned of your culture. In particular, I like your international perspective: as your motto says, Citi has a global footprint, a well-established market position, solid in-country relationships and an extensive range of services, and I think that this would be an incredible opportunity to challenge myself and realize my aspirations. Hence I am interested in attending the Work Experience Week and have enclosed my resume and background information below.

I am currently working at X, a promising startup, in the Marketing and Business Development division. Through this experience working on different tasks, I am gaining versatility and honing my teamwork skills. I also have the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs and innovators, who have a different mentality and appetite for risk than most of the people, and also they look at problems from a different standpoint and create innovative solutions.

Given my background in X and my aforementioned skills, I am a particularly good fit for the Work Experience Week. I am impressed by the results obtained by your M&A team: with global M&A activity near historic highs, Citi is one of the main contributors, thanks to its comprehensive relationship coverage service and its strong presence in many nations. Therefore, I look forward to joining and thriving within your firm.

I would welcome an opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you and learn more about Citi at your earliest convenience. I can be reached at XX or via email at XX. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
