Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Community Sailing of Colorado

POSITION:

Program Director

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Hello,

My name is XYZ and I am currently a junior studying Economics at XYZ University. I started sailing at a very young age as I grew up racing competitively along the coast of Maine every summer for the XYZ Yacht Club.

I entered the club’s Junior Program as soon as I could at age 7 and did not stop until I aged out 11 years later as an 18 year-old. In 2009, at age 15, I became a Jr. Instructor for my home club. Shortly after, in 2012, I got my US Level 1 Instructor Certification and became a full-time instructor. During my first summer as a full-time instructor, I was named Head Opti Race Coach and coached one of my students to a first place finish at the Maine State Optimist Championships.

In 2013, I decided it was time for a change and headed to Nantucket to take a job with the XYZ Yacht Club as their Head Opti Race Coach. While at Great Harbor, I had the opportunity to both plan and host the 2013 Jobson Cup—the biggest on-island Jr. Sailing regatta of the summer. The regatta ran smoothly and I was fortunate enough to have one of my very own sailors win the entire thing.

After taking a brief hiatus from being a sailing instructor in the summer of 2014, I am ready to be back. I have done a lot of research on INSERT CLUB, and would love nothing more than to work there as an instructor this summer.

I have attached my resume below; please let me know if you have any questions or concerns—I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

XYZ
