Sample cover letter for Internship position at Credit Suisse

POSITION:

Assistant VP

GOT THE JOB? Yes

I am a Full Time MBA student at xxx Business School and I am writing to express my interest in the 2014 Private Banking MBA Summer Associate Internship. I attended an information session at your London offices on the xxxx 2014 where I had an opportunity to interact with you and Mr. Snr RM. The session on getting to know oneself, the detailed business & role description and the professional environment drew me the most to Credit Suisse. Additionally, based on my independent research, I believe that Credit Suisse offers me an opportunity to explore and pursue a career in an area of banking that I do not have experience in.

Prior to enrolling for the MBA I spent five and a half years in transaction and investment banking services in XXX. My most recent role was as an Associate at XXX where I led transaction execution teams and worked directly with Managing Directors. As an Associate, I was responsible for mentoring new Analyst hires and supervision and review of Analyst work streams. I also have extensive experience in financial accounting & reporting and external audit from my time with Ernst & Young between 2003 and 2007. My time at Ernst & Young culminated in being promoted to Audit Senior responsible for audits of listed entities, leading audit teams and reporting to engagement partners and client executives. While at Ernst & Young I was involved in recruitment and training of junior staff. I strongly believe that my experience and the academic knowledge gained through my MBA and the different activities as Vice President of the MBA Finance Club, would be valuable to your team.

I am a self-motivated individual who works with minimal supervision and I am output orientated. I am confident in my ability to work in teams, adapt to situations and deliver timely and relevant outputs. Prior to the MBA, I executed an equity placement, energy tariff determination and coordinated first rounds of capital raising for a wind farm. Prior to that, I coordinated an IPO for a XXX chain in XXX. In both cases, I reported to executives and liaised with stakeholders at the highest levels.

I am pursuing the MBA in order to broaden my career prospects in finance and diversify from investment banking and I am certain Credit Suisse would be the right place to achieve these objectives. Credit Suisse’s global positioning, as affirmed by its 530 offices and 22 booking centers in over 50 countries, will also provide me the opportunity to gain exposure to different markets. Further, the structured nature of the internship program and the full time role will help achieve my objectives.

I have enclosed my CV for your review and hope to have the opportunity to discuss my qualifications and experience further during a personal interview. Should you require further information I am contactable on 1111 or (EMAIL ADDRESS). Thank you for your time and consideration.
