I am applying for the Co-op Analyst position in the Global Investment Banking group at Scotiabank, posted on Jobmine. After speaking with Bonnie Tang, a previous Analyst Co-op at Deloitte, I was extremely impressed with the amount of attention and dedication Deloitte puts into helping clients by devising effective strategies and implementing the recommendations on-site, which is compatible with my aspirations in helping individuals and organizations to help themselves to explore their full potential. Therefore, I am enticed to apply to be a part of Deloitte Consulting.

As a current 2B Double Degree Mathematics and Business Administration Honors Co-op student at University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, I have had the opportunity to sharpen my leadership, problem solving, teamwork and interpersonal skills in a multi-project, fast-paced, and constantly changing environment. The diverse business knowledge and strong mathematics background I am gaining at both universities in combination with versatile skills demonstrated in my extracurricular leadership commitments and entrepreneurial initiatives, put me in a competent position to contribute to Deloitte’s consulting team.

As elected President of UW Films, I led a team of twenty-one to rebuild this student body which existed anonymously over 20 years. Over two school terms, I have managed to not only grow the club from under 100 members to over 600 members through innovative recruiting campaigns but also create a network platform that initiates in-depth discussion on the art of filmmaking among students and more than twenty local professional filmmakers during UW Films’ filmmaking workshops. Over 4 months working as a Business Coordinator at Midnight Sun Solar Rayce Car Team, one of the top three cruiser-class solar race car teams in North America, I identified the team’s problems in unstructured governance, inefficient team communication, inability of financial debt recovery and the lack of online and community presence. Throughout my work term, I collaborated closely with the project manager to develop effective governance structure, help the team transition to professional communication tools, manage race budget and successfully reduce debt by $40,000, and rebuild the team’s online and community presence.
