Sample cover letter for Internship position at Deutsche Bank

POSITION:

Summmer intern

In your opinion, what are the main challenges for the Financial Services industry and what are the opportunities for Deutsche Bank in the current economic climate? ( Max 150 words)*.

I think the main challenges sit in transferring the intelligence into maximum actual value. In order to achieve this, DB will need to understand, better than other competitors, its customers, their industries background, more importantly, regions they are from and therefore their background. Given the financial crisis mostly affected US and Western Europe, while maintain the service there, DB may/would expend much in relatively new yet growing market such as Asia Pacific, and emphasize on innovation of the service accordingly (domestic regulation, credit expansion with limitations).

Briefly explain the main role of your division of choice, how it contributes to the Bank and why you are interested in working in this division (Max 150 words)*.

My understanding upon Asset& Wealth Management is how to nicely and quickly grow a snowball properly, using intelligence of course. Theories, principle and fancy models is one thing, however to actually invest and grow the assets is another. Just like what my experiment-and-modelling-combined Phd research has taught me, the real life is always more complicated, sophisticated and unexpected. AWM is where the actual magic which transfer intelligence into values happens, and it is tempting to me just as the other academic research ever is. I like and enjoy gathering information and interpreting them into knowledge and value. I would also be enjoying meeting, working with and growing with people from different backgrounds, as what I have done in many extracurricular activities.

What makes you a strong candidate for this division, considering the key attributes that would make someone successful in this business. (Max 100 words)*.

I believe in that outstanding people are meant to be. I consider myself intelligent, confident and yet every easygoing, adjustable to a wide variety of environments. As a student, I am a fast learner, and I am always hungry for knowledge and eager to find out the every possible path towards the answer if not only the best one. As an active organizer, leader in many extracurricular activities, I am always optimistic yet thoughtful in terms of details, result driven yet down to earth, confident and extremely persuasive. It is always clear that what I want and how to achieve it, which is now pursuing a career in Financial Service industry and therefore understand the world better in a totally different way.

What extra curricular activities do you participate in? (Such as societies, entrepreneurial activities, sports, music, volunteering and so on) (Max 100 words)*.

(As stated in CV) Chairman of Institute of Mechanical Engineers student chapter, doing general management and organizing some national wide competitions; Cofounder of Nottingham Social Entrepreneurship Competition; Director of student societies; Event organizer in Oxford Chinese Society. Website designer, part-time paid multimedia designer; Chinese Flute player; Lab demonstrator, 4th year project mentor for undergraduates; Regular exercises with running, swimming and gym trainings.
