I was recently informed by the Associate Director of the Career Center at my college of an opening for Early Career Engineers at Dupont and I am writing to express my interest in applying for the position.I am impressed by several aspects of your company, especially Dupont’s commitment to the growth of renewable energy technologies, as evidenced by a recent statement from Dupont’s Electronics & Communications President that the company expects to achieve $1 billion in revenue from sales into the solar photovoltaics market in 2010.

A significant portion of my Masters studies, including my Masters thesis, have been focused on the science of sustainable energy sources and I would be thrilled to work for a company that promotes the adoption of these technologies.In addition to this, I feel that my qualifications and my willingness to try new things are a good match for the position of Early Career Engineer.

Research and Development

Currently investigating a new approach to increase the efficiency of third-generation solar PV cells (DSSC’s) by altering the nanostructure of the dye-sensitized electrode, which incorporates the fabrication of inverse opaline structures.

Maintenance / Reliability Engineering

• Fine-tuned the performance of a furnace for cellulose gasification, maintained and performed trouble-shooting on the gas chromatograph used to characterize the gasification products.
