Dear Recruitment Manager: I am currently a master student in University of Cambridge, majoring in Sociology. After having come across the Dubai Business Internships on Cambridge Careers website, I attended the presentation given by Mr. Jame Maughan in Cambridge, which considerably impressed me with the holistic business training offered by the high-quality programme teams, the unique opportunity to work with one of the leading Dubai business sectors in multi-cultural communities of Middle East. Moreover, my conversations with several current interns served only to strengthen my belief that Dubai Business Internships would be an optimal start for my career in an international environment to which I can apply my great passion for business, my academic research background and my multiple international experiences. I have an immense enjoyment in the conduction of business projects, and equally in the project presentation in public. I was once a member of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprises). My project team helped a group of veterans to set up their own business, which was to provide customers with laser tag game. We established a well-designed business model including the improvement of service quality, and the development of online and offline market promotion, which proved to be successful as we doubled their income after half-year operations. In the subsequent national business innovation competition, I presented our business models to judgers from multinational corporations, and we won the third prize in the completion. Half-year of preparation for this competition taught me the basic knowledge of business analysis and skills in presenting business plans, and I felt a strong sense of confidence and delight to present on the stage. Therefore, I believe that the professional and rigorous business training of Dubai Business Internships will undoubtedly further hone my skills and insights in much broader and more intricate projects in diversified industries, and will lay out a solid foundation for my career development. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) under the Dubai Tourism particularly appeals to me, I would love to devote myself to the implementation of the strategic roadmap of Dubai Tourism Vision 2020 by transferring my research skills and adopting my interpretation of Chinese society and customs. The study of Sociology equips me with strong analytical skills in both quantitative and qualitative research, which can be applied to market research and reports. More crucially, Sociology encourages me to develop critical and profound perspectives in understanding demographic and societal facts in China. For instance, the growing middle class in China is a large potential market which has not been fully exploited, and their newly lifestyles worth to be studied in tourist market. Certainly, I would cherish every chance in the internship to learn from my colleagues and supervisors, to make a joint effort in the achievement of future goals of Dubai’s tourism.

It would be my great honour to be a cultural ambassador, to bring China to Dubai and to lead Dubai to the world. I am proud of two of my strengths, which are my global mindset and fast adaptability in multi-cultural and challenging environments. I have accumulated my international experience in two periods of exchange study in America and Germany, and the summer study tour fully sponsored by a businessman in Hong Kong, Singapore. I have a high appreciation for every culture I am exposed to, and it excites me to communicate and cooperate with intelligent people from different background in the era of globalization. The culture of Dubai attracts me a lot, as it embraces tolerance, peace and a heart for progress and excellence. I believe this sense of belong will support me to stay in Dubai for a long-term career path. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely

Yunzi Liu
