Sample cover letter for Internship position at FlatIron

Dear Flatiron,

I have had 4 internships throughout my college years and am looking for one more to complete my final summer in college. I am looking for an internship that challenges me in every way possible. I do not want a basic internship that I work on a project that gets archived at the end of the summer, I want to work on something that adds value to the company. I see no better fit for that than Flatiron.

Although my school teaches solely Java, I have learned languages/frameworks on my own such as Rails/Ruby, Swift, Javascript including multiple JS frameworks like React and Angular. I have done this by taking online classes and building my own stuff. I have filled my time with a mixture of teaching CS to other students and working 2 jobs (including a startup i co-founded). I love programing and writing code, I am someone who is always willing to learn and excel at everything I do. I will do whatever is necessary to prepare before this internship including learning new languages/frameworks and learning the code base ahead of time.

I think that Flatiron would be a perfect fit for me this summer, and I would be sure that Flatiron got as much out of the internship as I did. I would go above and beyond my fellow interns to add as much value as possible, whether that is working 80+ hours a week or working on the projects/issues sitting in the backlog that others do not want to touch.
