Sample cover letter for Internship position at Fraunhofer ESK

POSITION:

Software Development for Wireless Sensor Networks

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in applying for an internship position on the topic “Software Development for Wireless Sensor Networks” (Kennziffer: ESK-2015-6) in Fraunhofer ESK, Germany. I got to know about this opportunity through the Fraunhofer website and found the required profile description to be very appealing and apt for my current skills.

Currently, I am in my third semester of Masters' programme in Information and Communication Engineering at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. I completed my Bachelors’ degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visveswaraiah Technological University (VTU). After my graduation, I have worked as a Systems Engineer for more than a year in Infosys Limited, Bangalore where I could acquire a good knowledge of programming in C, Object Oriented Programming and MySQL.

The Project Seminars and Labs, in which I have participated in my Masters’, have helped me to further enhance my programming skills and improvise on my knowledge in subjects of my specialization such as Wireless Sensor Networks, Mobile Networking and Communication Networks. I have worked on MATLAB/Simulink for my Project Seminars “Compressive Sensing in Wireless Senor Networks” and “Thresholding in Text Images”, completed during the second semester of my Masters'. I am currently programming in nesC for my project “Integration of Wireless Sensor Networks and Smartphones” to establish a wireless short-range communication between the TelosB mote, running on TinyOS, and an Android Smartphone using the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol. The Wireless Sensor Lab, in which I am participating this semester, involves programming in C to run Contiki based TelosB motes to practically analyze time synchronization and energy efficient communication between wireless sensor nodes based on different networking protocols using Cooja and TUDμNet, a metropolitan-scale federation of wireless sensor network testbeds deployed at various buildings of TU Darmstadt. I am currently working as a student assistant on the Tor project, which is an open network to defend against a form of network surveillance, known as traffic analysis, in the internet. I believe that these skills and knowledge coupled with my work experience, would give me the tools and the ability necessary to add value to the position, and ultimately your organization. I look forward to receiving a positive response from you. Given the opportunity of an internship, I would prefer to start from April 2016. Thank you very much for reviewing my resume.

Enclosed Documents: Curriculum Vitae, Master Degree Transcript, Bachelor Degree Transcript, Work Experience Certificate

Sincerely
