Sample cover letter for Internship position at Go ape

POSITION:

Instructor

Dear Hiring Manager,

I write to you because I express an extreme interest in working for the Apple Store. A current sophomore at Milton Academy, I am a highly motivated, determined individual with a drive to succeed and a knack for everything APPLE. I love to interact with people, and I have a strong desire to please and satisfy. As a singer, songwriter, musician, and student, I find that Apple products allow me to be the most creative, while maintaining efficiency and ease. But most importantly, Apple and its products allow the user to follow his passions, his dreams, his ambitions, and his daily tasks of life with so much effectiveness.

I have a lot of experience in Mac software, such as knowledge of Mac hardware (RAM, processors, storage); experience with iPod, iPad, Apple TV, iTunes, Logic Pro 9/X, Final Cut Pro X, Aperture, Mac OS X, Time Machine, AirPort wireless base stations, Boot Camp, Terminal, and so much more. I would love to share with you my initial experience with Apple products and how they have changed my life. I have never applied for a job before, and this is my very first cover letter, and I have decided that the best way to prove to you that I am the best candidate is to simply tell you my story and relationship with Apple products. So here it is:

I will never forget the day in 2009 when my family made the transition from an old Dell computer to a brand new iMac. I will admit: I was so accustomed to Internet Explorer and the Windows Start Menu that I was a tad fearful of what would happen to the way in which I would interact with technology. I had already been hooked on the iPod nano, and I remember synchronizing so many songs to it because of that incredible feeling of individuality––this little iPod almost represents my personality; no one in the entire world has my exact collection of music, making the device so personal, so understandable. And once my parents brought this foreign, new iMac into the family, everything changed for the better. Any process it performed, whether surfing the web or typing a Pages document or playing music with its sonorous, built-in speakers, the iMac did so with extreme agility, smoothness, and speed. We all fell in love with it. And it loved us, too.

Then, I discovered two built-in applications on it that changed my life: GarageBand and iMovie. I realized that if I connected my keyboard to the computer with a MIDI cable, my keyboard can interact with the GarageBand, and I can make my keyboard into virtually any sound I want. I can record anything that I play on the keyboard (I am a pianist) and GarageBand can quantize the rhythm, add effects and audio plugins, and more, making my music sound so much more professional and realistic. I remember recording with a tiny USB microphone in which GarageBand allowed me to change the equalizer and reverb. I felt so professional and real and genuine. Then, I started making short films, videos, and movies for fun using iMovie. I liked using the Voiceover feature so that I could pose as a narrator and dub my voice over a video, as well as the multitude of transitions and cool titles that made my work look so “top-notch.”

And even for school projects or assignments, Mac allowed me to be so creative. Pages and Keynote, part of the glorious iWork ’09 bundle, gave me the ability to go above and beyond in my work for essays, research papers, presentations and more. And it was all exportable and compatible as a Microsoft Word document or a PowerPoint document, so that I could work with it at a school run by Windows.

Later, for my 15th birthday, at the start of high school, my parents blessed and bestowed me with an early 2013, 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I literally cried. This extremely powerful computer allows me to literally do anything I want. I can multitask with 10 applications open and not have to worry about the computer’s getting hot or slowing down. At Milton Academy, life is always busy and moving, so I needed a powerful computer that was not only compact, but also very capable of doing so many things at once. With this computer, I made my most recent music video. Please consider watching my latest music video cover on YouTube, in which I sing, act, and film in it with my brother (we are a duo). It was recorded, mixed, and mastered by me using Logic Pro X, and the video was edited with Final Cut Pro X. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H73ekGP1SZY

All in all, by working at the Apple Store, I will be able to share my amazing experience with Apple with other fellow customers, and hopefully, I can show them how to utilize Apple in the most beneficial manner so that their lives may be as fun-filled, organized, creative, and productive as mine is by incorporating Apple into their worlds.

Thank you very much for considering me for this position.

Sincerely,

Dalton Letorney
