Dear Sir or Madam,

I am currently an Engineering student at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy, a top 10 Graduate Engineering school in France ( ‘Grandes Ecoles’). I am also enrolled in a Master of Science in Mathematical Engineering and Computing tools at Université Henri Poincaré. To complete my training and to get a first foot in your company, I would really like to apply for the summer internship in trading at BNP PARIBAS.

I have previously completed a summer internship in a trading floor as an assistant trader. The market was expecting a devaluation in the moroccan currency and no tool was taking jumps into account. Through this experience I performed Quantitative Analysis and implemented a pricer tool in Matlab for European options on EUR/MAD and USD/MAD and helped the derivative trader hedge their position in the context of devaluation. Spending two months in the fast-paced environment of the trading floor allowed me to realize that a trading environment with excitement, challenges and learning opportunities is where I need to be.

In 2015, I spent 3 months as a Research Assistant at LNCC a modelling and computing laboratory based in Pétropolis, Brazil. I was dedicated to the optimisation team, and during my internship I managed a project in Local Volatility Calibration. I did preliminary researches on advances in the subject and we developed a model based on Shape Optimization. I also assisted my mentor in the project inverse problem applied to earthquake detection. During my internship I had the opportunity to evolve in a multicultural environment and deepen my knowledge of Volatility models and optimization algorithms. I am confident that I can use my quantitative skills and team work acquired during my internship at LNCC to your company especially in the department of trading.

As a student at Ecole Nationale Supérieure Des Mines de Nancy, I have improved my skills in both financial Mathematics and computing. I really want to complete my training by doing an internship in a prestigious firm and BNP PARIBAS seems the perfect place to do so. I could learn from the best practitioners in the domain. Through my various experiences, I acquired a deep sense of precision, hard work, adaptability and solid knowledge in taking responsibilities. Also, my resilience and ability to work under pressure have been proven during my years of intensive undergraduate studies in France.
