Sample cover letter for Internship position at Goldman Sachs

POSITION:

Summer intern

Goldman Sachs

200 West Street New York, NY 10282

To whom it may concern:

I am writing in connection with my application for a 2016 Summer Analyst internship in investment banking. I am a junior at Colgate University, where I am an economics major with a minor in psychology. I am currently studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, where as part of my program I am taking courses in international economics and finance at the Universitat Ramon Llull La Salle Business School. I am attracted to Goldman Sachs because of its standing as a global leader in investment banking and because of the real world experience offered by the summer internship program.

At Colgate I have a 3.83 GPA in my economics courses, was selected to tutor a microeconomics class, and am a member of a number of business clubs as well as Colgate’s Thought Into Action Entrepreneurship Institute. I am a Co-Managing Director of HUGS (Hamilton United Gift Shop), where I have hands-on experience in different facets of running an online business. I am the treasurer of the marketing club and was previously the director of recruitment; I helped merge the cub with the publicity club, started and currently head an entertainment committee, and played a critical role in the introduction of our Alumni Speaker Series. This past summer I worked as a Business Analyst at AIG, where I worked with the operations team in compiling and analyzing data on a number of projects. Through these experiences I am building a diverse business skill set, and I am developing as an ambitious, solutions-oriented, and creative leader. I am confident that I would be an enthusiastic, productive, and successful member of the summer analyst team at Goldman.

Thank you for taking the time to review my application. I am excited about the possibility of working at Goldman next summer, and look forward to hearing from you. If I may provide any additional information, please feel free to contact me by e-mail at [email protected] or my temporary phone number in Spain, noted above.

Sincerely,
