Dear Mr Winters,
I am a penultimate year Civil Engineering student at Oxford University and would like to be considered for the Goldman Sachs summer internship program in Equity Sales and Trading.
I was first introduced to Goldman Sachs at a careers event last year and after meeting several junior traders there I quickly became fascinated with the S&T group. This interest has grown further as I have learnt the nuts and bolts of S&T from my sister – a bonds trader in London.
My recent internship as a Site Engineer managing a £300m construction project for Network Rail and Pierce White strengthened my analytical and quantitative skills, as I was constantly under pressure to solve technical engineering problems with innovative, on-the-spot solutions. My ability to reach fast data-driven decisions in this high-pressure working environment makes me confident that I can similarly perform and excel on the trading floor. Meanwhile, my experience co-founding Pepe Black Shoes has given me real world leadership and sales experience; and above all, the confidence to handle tough challenges.
Given my logical engineering background, quantitative skills and appetite for the market, I feel that Equity Sales and Trading at Goldman Sachs is a natural fit. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
