Sample cover letter for Internship position at HP

POSITION:

Statistical Reporting Developer / Analyst Internship

Dear HP Recruiting Team,

Hi, my name is _____ and I'm applying for the Statistical Reporting Developer / Analyst Internship. I just finished my junior year and am going into my senior year as a Computer Science major at the ____________.

I'm very interested in using my C.S. degree for data analysis. It's a field I would seriously like to work in and learn more about. Looking at and analyzing data appeals a lot more to me than other CS fields, and this internship sounds like a perfect chance for me to learn more about it. I like working with SQL and would love a chance to use it more. I just recently took a Data Management class that covered how to use SQL, PL/SQL, and data management concepts like data modeling, normalization, and query optimization. I'm also well-versed in excel. I've learned the more advanced excel functions like Vlookup, macros, and pivot tables from my Management Information Systems class.

This would be my first internship, and I would be honored to work at such a reputable company as HP. I'm really excited to use what I've learn and apply it to the real world. I hope to learn a lot from this internship experience.

Thank you for reading,

name
