APPLICATION FOR AN INTERNSHIP POSITION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION (IBA)

I write in respect of the above mentioned position with the IBA, in London.

I am ...., ... years of age, and currently a ... year student of the Faculty of Law,... University.

Over the years, I have developed a keen interest in affairs of human rights violations, and have been a vocal opponent in this regard. In my community, I have displayed this interest by speaking in several fora on issues of human rights. Most importantly, I am an advocate for the enforceability and justiciablility of the right to food in Nigeria. To this end, I am currently conducting an individual project/research focusing on the legal paradigms and implications of the absence of the right to food in Nigeria. The research objective is invariably, to set out the diverse ways through which poverty, hunger and malnutrition can be eradicated in Nigeria.

My long-term goal is to be a frontline international development lawyer and human rights advocate. I sincerely believe that this internship would give me an opportunity to contribute on contemporary issues in international law, on grave violations of human rights and international criminal law occurring in several jurisdictions across the world. Most importantly, I have the desire to grow my passion in this field and this would be a great opportunity to develop myself, in knowledge, expertise and experience.
