Research Assistant

I kindly take this opportunity to apply for the above named position in your organization, following a vacancy advertisement on your website. I completed my bachelors’ degree in Economics & Statistics at Kenyatta University and graduated with Second class Honours’- Upper Division. In addition to that I have a certificate in data analysis software in SPSS. I previously worked as an operations intern at UN Women-ESARO mainly dealing with database management of information.

This position is of high interest to me since most of the duties match with the responsibilities that I used to undertake at UN Women. These include but are not limited to: Researching, compiling, analyzing, summarizing and presenting basic financial and administrative information/data of different projects from 12 country offices. Editing briefing papers. Database management of staff documents, office lease agreements and donor agreements and taking necessary action to ensure project documents and reports are completed and submitted to relevant parties for approval and dissemination and carrying out follow up actions. Analyzing of country office assessment tools (COAT) vis a vi annual work plans (AWPs).Preparing, maintaining and updating files (electronic and paper) and internal databases. Assist in taking minutes during meetings. Managing donor agreements, office lease agreements, delegation of authority letters and ERM risk register for respective country offices in their respective database website. Monitoring and carrying out oversight of assets. Carrying out any other duties as assigned.

I believe I am the best candidate for this position since I have had diverse exposure in research, monitoring & oversight, data analysis, coordination and budgeting exposure during my internship at UN Women and industrial attachments at AGTSD, Mwalimu National Sacco Society, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Caritas Malindi and Malindi Management Strategy.

I have a passion for development and improving the lives of other people and am ready to adapt to any of your working culture because am driven, proactive and dynamic in my approach of work. Moreover, I have always wanted to work in an international environment and I believe this is the place to be.
